چکیده

The conference was arranged for the third time and consisted of lectures given by the leading researchers in membrane proteins field as well as poster session. The topics of the conference covered the structure and function of ion channels, electron transfer proteins, transporters, receptors, and aquaporins. Such proteins were described at the atomic level, as well as in the context of the native membrane. Large scale expression and engineering of membrane proteins for structural analyses were discussed. Further topics concerned progress in 2D and 3D crystallization of membrane proteins, X-ray and electron crystallography, atomic force microscopy and NMR.

The Effect of Hydrophobicity and Hydrophilicity of Gold Nanoparticle on Proteins Structure and Function

The surface parameter of nanoparticles such as hydrophobicity and a hydrophilicity on protein structure and function is very important. In this study, conformational changes of glucose oxidase (GOx) in the mercaptopurine: GNPs and 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid: GNPs as a hydrophobic and a hydrophilic GNPs surface was investigated by various spectroscopic techniques, including: UV-Vis absorption, f...

Molecular dynamics simulation of interaction of Melittin and DMPC bilayer: Temperature dependence

The interaction between proteins and membranes has an important role in biological pro-cesses.We have calculated energies of interaction between Melittin and DMPC bilayer in differenttemperatures. We have used the CHARMM software for MD simulation under the canonical (N,V, E) ensemble at different temperatures. The computations have shown that water moleculeshave more penetration into the bilay...

Phycocyanin, cyanobacterial antioxidant: structure, function and applications

Phycobilins, open-chain tetrapyrrole pigment molecules, serve as accessory photosynthetic light-harvesting pigments in red algae and cyanobacteria. Phycobilin pigments are covalently linked with proteins and formed phycobiliproteins are organized into large macromolecular complexes called phycobilisomes on the top of the thylakoid membranes. In deep water, only green light is available, thus ph...
